News from the Revolution in Rojava and Wider Kurdistan
Kurdish leaders and activists will hold a conference in Washington, DC later this month where they will discuss, among other things the ongoing struggle against the Islamic State (ISIS), according to a report from Özgür Gündem. HDP co-president Selahattin Demirtaş and PYD co-president Salih Muslim are both expected to attend.
According to a statement released by the HDP’s Washington Office, the conference attendees will include Demirtaş and Muslim, as well the KRG’s representative in Washington Karwan Zebari and many other Kurdish intellectuals and politicians.
The title of the conference will be “The New Reality of Kurdistan in the Middle East: Risks, Expectations and Opportunities” and it will deal with developments in the region since the beginning of the Arab Spring.
In addition to representatives of Kurdish political parties, representatives of the Yazidi people, as well as Turkish and Kurdish academics and a large number of journalists will be in attendance.
