The YPG has been defending Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo from attacks both from the regime and the FSA
According to a report in today’s Özgür Gündem, around three hundred civilian hostages have been taken from Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo by Free Syrian Army units affiliated with the Military Council since September 6th. Of these around 30 have been released.
The hostages were taken following attacks on the Seken El Şebabi, Eşrefiyê, and Beni Zêd neighborhoods by FSA forces. It is thought that some of the hostages are being held in Heyderiyê and Bustan Paşa. Many have since been transported to the city of Heyanê where they are reported to be suffering torture and other abuses, according to the testimony of released hostages. Women and children are also said to be among the hostages.
