In an operation in Arfin yesterday, public security officers arrested four people in possession of 25 kg of explosives. The four individuals were later found to be members of the Azadi (Freedom) Party, according to a report by ANF. According to the report, the Azadi Party has been behind attacks in Afrin before, including a bombing of a Women’s House in which there were no deaths. They confessed to be planning to set off bomb in the city again, in an attempt to kill Atuf Abdo, the head of the local Kurdish popular council; Abdo survived another assassination attempt last year.

They also confessed to attempts to provoke fighting between the Turkish Armed Forces and the PYD by launching attacks on Turkish soldiers from inside Syria, and to receiving instructions and explosives training from Turkish officials regarding their attempt to assassinate Abdo.
